A fire chief within the Boston Fire Department has been indicted on procurement fraud and larceny charges, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced Thursday.

Edward Scigliano IV, 45, of Kingston, Massachusetts, was indicted by a Suffolk County Grand Jury on charges of five counts of procurement fraud and five counts of larceny over $250.

Prosecutors allege that Scigliano stole over $32,000 Boston taxpayer dollars and directed the money for his personal use in two separate instances between 2008 and 2011.

In one of these schemes, prosecutors say Scigliano profited from checks from an emergency vehicle vendor that did business with the Boston Fire Department. In the other, he allegedly personally profited from items purchased by an equipment vendor that supplied the Boston Fire Department.

Scigliano will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on Nov. 25.

Thursday evening, Boston Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn said Scigliano was moved to administrative leave with no pay after the indictments were handed down.

"I have zero tolerance for anyone who betrays the oath of office of a firefighter and pledge to take swift, decisive action if warranted, at the resolution of this case," Finn said in a statement.
