Boston Firefighter Transported in Dorchester Blaze

A Boston firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion after battling a fire in Dorchester Sunday afternoon.

The blaze broke out in the attic of a two-family home at 9 Gene St. Boston Fire crews responded just after 4:45 p.m.

Boston EMS transported the firefighter, but no one else was injured. It is unknown how many residents were displaced.

Investigators are working to determine the fire's cause and its point of origin.

The fire is estimated to have caused about $70,000 in damage.
