Boston Latin School Assistant Headmaster Steps Down After Headmaster's Resignation

Malcolm Flynn resigned on Wednesday

Assistant headmaster of Boston Latin School Malcolm Flynn stepped down following the resignation of the school's headmaster over racism-related investigations.

"Superintendent Tommy Chang today accepted the resignation of Malcolm Flynn, assistant headmaster of Boston Latin School," a brief statement made by school spokesperson Richard Weir reads.

According to the Boston Globe, in a letter to Boston Public Schools Superintendent Tommy Chang, Flynn pointed out his discontent with how the school department has handled issues regarding racial incidents at the school.

He reportedly said it presented a false representation of the school and that an ongoing investigation launched by the U.S. Attorney's Office could have been prevented had Chang defended the school.

The school's headmaster Lynne Mooney Teta resigned amid investigations into racism-related incidents at the school.

The school department says she resigned for personal reasons, but there had been calls for her to step down after the group Black at BKS posted to social media citing racial discontent at the school.

The investigation into how the school has handled racial incidents remains under investigation.

On Wednesday, students were set to meet with Department of Justice investigators to talk about the schools racial climate.
