Boston's First Baby of 2015 Born

Rylee Weigman was born at 12:43 a.m. at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The first baby to be born in 2015 in Boston is Rylee Weigman!

She was born at 8 pounds 4 ounces, at 12:43 am at Massachusetts General Hospital New Year's Day.

Rylee's proud mom and dad, of Revere, say the New Year's delivery was "unexpected" and "surprising."

New mom Donna Hill said, "I didn't expect it to be such a big thing really."

"She's beautiful, very beautiful," said dad and Hill's fiancee, Spencer Weigman.

The late New Year's Eve labor, was not something mom, Donna, was anticipating.

She says she was due earlier in the week, scheduled to be induced on January 3rd, until she started having contractions at 9:30 Wednesday morning.

Dad says his heart-rate went up prior to the delivery, that he was very nervous, but when Rylee did finally come out "it was very exciting."

Rylee's parents say they're happy she's healthy, and perhaps family members are more excited about the 1/1/15 birthday.

"My sisters were hoping for it, they kept texting me 'is it going to be a New Year's baby? Make sure she's a New Years baby,'" said Hill.

The family is expected to leave the hospital Saturday.
