As rain departs Wednesday, a few snow showers for some usher in breaks of sunshine, but winds will remain active through the day, bringing colder air into New England.
Though winds will stay below damaging speeds excepting the Midcoast of Maine, Downeast, from this point forward, the wind will couple with incoming cold to create a wind chill that will be especially noticeable by late day.
High pressure builds into New England from Canada overnight tonight and Thursday, bringing a cold shot of air, but dry conditions. The next storm to pass near New England marches south of us on Friday, but being on the northern periphery of this storm means the potential for southern New England to see some snow developing as the day wears on Friday - made even more probable for some with the likely onshore, northeast wind that will develop.
At this point, it looks like a greater than 70 percent chance Cape Cod sees some snow developing Friday, about a 50/50 proposition for the Boston area, and far lower chances for the northern half of New England, which should stay dry on Friday if all goes as planned.
By Saturday morning, any falling snow should be gone and a fair and cool weekend awaits, ahead of what looks to be a substantial warming trend by midweek next week in our exclusive early warning weather 10-day forecast.
