Bring on Summer: Warmer Days Are Ahead

May for much of New England has been cooler than average.

In Boston, the after temperature for the month is 53.2 degrees. That's 2.6 degrees below average.

We will make up for our crummy stretch of weather. The gorgeous weather started Saturday. It's possible that we could see a shower or thunderstorm Sunday, but much of the day will be dry and it will be warm! If thunderstorms move in on Sunday, a couple could be strong, in western New England, especially.

There is a better chance for thunderstorms Monday. It's too early to get into specifics, but a couple of those storms could be strong to severe. Before thunderstorms develop, it will be a very warm and humid airmass to kick off the week. Temperatures will reach the mid 80s across most of New England. The last time Boston reached 80 was back on Oct. 10, 2018. Our seven-month stretch will be coming to a close.

Once the front moves through Monday night, the weather will dry out and clear out for Tuesday and Wednesday. Both days will be less humid as high temperatures climb to a seasonable 70 during the afternoon.

Some rain is possible Thursday into Friday. At this point, the high chances for rain look to be Thursday night into Friday morning.

The holiday weekend and the unofficial start to summer looks a little unsettled, but not as bad as some years. A few showers are possible, but temperatures should be pleasantly mild ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s.
