Brockton Dog Stabbed Over 20 Times, Family Seeks Answers

Despite being named Havoc, he's as gentle as they come, according to the owners of a Brockton, Massachusetts, pit bull, but they say Havoc was the victim of mayhem Sunday evening.

The dog's family is facing some stiff veterinarian bills after he was stabbed several times.

"We don't have no money and the city's going to kill the dog," Merie McConille told necn.

Off his leash, the dog reportedly met another dog that was on a walk before being attacked by the other dog's companion, who hasn't yet been identified. Brockton police said they are looking for that dog's owner.

After a three-day hospital stay at New England Animal Medical Center, Havoc was heading home Tuesday. According to the vet, he had more than 20 wounds and slashes.

"Some of them penetrated through the muscles, up to the shoulder," veterinarian Neil Andelman said.

The McConnell family said Havoc is a good dog who was a victim of a vicious attack.

"Everybdoy in the neighborhood knows our dog and that he wouldn't do anything horrible or bad to hurt other dogs because he likes dogs," McConille's daughter, Tamara Cherduville, said.
