Bruins Cancel Holiday Hospital Visits Amid Mumps Outbreak

The team bought over $17,000 worth of toys for kids

A mumps outbreak in the NHL has forced the Boston Bruins to alter their holiday plans. The team cancelled their scheduled visits to local hospitals this holiday season.

The team says it made the decision after consulting with local hospitals and medical professionals.

While their are no known diagnoses of mumps to Bruins players, the team says it doesn't want to risk exposure to any pediatric patients.

The team bought over $17,000 worth of toys and they'll still be distributed to the hospitals.
