Car Catches Fire at Demolition Derby

Driver Jonathan Snell was not injured

A car caught on fire Sunday evening at the Windsor Fair Demolition Derby in Windsor, Maine.

"It's amazing how fast something bad can happen. I know from experience as being on the Damariscotta fire department myself," said driver Jonathan Snell.

Windsor Fire said the car caught on fire while the cars were hitting each other, which is part of the demolition derby. Snell, said that Windsor Fire and Rescue signaled for him to get out of the car and he had to dive out, without even unbuckling his seat belt. They put out the fire without incident and Snell was unharmed, though his boots burned.

Snell said he was thankful for the help from Windsor Fire and Rescue and the Windsor Staff.
