Car Crashes in NH After Interstate Police Chase With Shots Fired

One person has been arrested and another remains on the run after a car crashed Tuesday night across New Hampshire's border following a police chase that began in Massachusetts.

Police in Haverhill, Massachusetts, say a suspect shot a handgun at an unknown target. When officers began to go after the car, they say the suspect began to shoot at them.

Officers from Haverhill chased the car along Interstate 495 before crossing into New Hampshire.

The car crashed in Windham. Dozens of police officers and state troopers were on the scene.

One person was in police custody before 11 p.m. Police continued searching for a second suspect they say fled into the woods.

A gun was taken from the car, but police say the second suspect may still be armed.

Around midnight, a SWAT team arrived with an armored vehicle.

People in the area are being asked to remain indoors. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call 911.
