Police in Worcester, Massachusetts, are investigating after a cat was found shot in the head with an arrow, but is expected to survive.

Police received a call from the owner on Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. saying the cat had an arrow in its ear.

The owner said the cat was out from 7 – 9 a.m. and the owner noticed a trail of blood in the driveway leading to a wooded area behind the property, where the cat was caught.

The arrow was caught on branches, preventing the cat from escaping. An animal control officer was able to pick up the cat and remove the arrow.

The cat was bleeding from the ear and was taken to a veterinarian by its owner and is expected to survive.

Officials gathered information about the incident and continue to investigate.
