Cats Removed From Home in Upton, Massachusetts

The crews that entered had to wear protective gear and take breaks

Eight cats were removed Wednesday afternoon from a home in Upton, Massachusetts, according to the MSPCA.

Crews responded to the home on School Street around 2:30 p.m.

The crews that entered had to wear protective gear and take breaks.

Neighbors say two women live in the home, and that they have been hoarding cats for years.

UptonPolice say the residents of the home voluntarily surrendered the cats.

Mark Frazier, who lives next door, says the cats would often roam into his yard, but that the smell was worse. A different neighbor says she wrote a letter to the board of health, alerting them to the problem.

Charges may be filed; the MSPCA says that will be determined by the conditions of the animals.
