Child Porn Fugitive Arrested by U.S. Marshals

Robert Leroy Amos of NH located in Kansas

U.S. marshals say a New Hampshire man who failed to appear in Merrimack County Superior Court on child pornography charges in November is in custody in Kansas.

Officials say Robert Leroy Amos was arrested in Salina, Kansas Wednesday morning without incident. He was charged as a fugitive from justice and is being held at the Saline County Jail pending extradition to New Hampshire.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Jeffrey White said Amos fled to Kansas in late summer after learning Concord police were investigating him for possible possession of child pornography.

Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Amos with two counts of possession of child pornography. Amos failed to appear for an arraignment scheduled for Nov. 12.

It was not immediately known whether Amos has a lawyer.
