Child Riding Bicycle Involved in Collision With Vehicle on Cape

Child was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital as a precaution

An 8-year-old child riding their bicycle was involved in a collision with a vehicle in Bourne, Massachusetts, on Monday evening.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the child was traveling down Yearling Run Road at 6:11 p.m. at a high rate of speed and did not slow down when passing a driveway. A 31-year-old Plymouth woman who was passing that driveway in her Jeep Patriot, collided with the child.

The child was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital as a precaution but their injuries are believed to be minor.

Police said the driver was not at fault in the crash.
