Chipotle Sales Take a Hit After Mass. Norovirus Scare

According to the Boston Business Journal, there was a 27.3 percent decline in sales

According to Chipotle, sales took a tumble in March after a store in Billerica, Massachusetts, was shut down for a day due to an employee contracting norovirus.

According to the Boston Business Journal, there was a 27.3 percent decline in sales for stores open for at least a year following the closing.

The Billerica establishment shut down on March 8 after one employee got sick with the virus. Three other employees are also suspected of having it.

None of the sick workers came in to work, but a health official says the store was closed as a precaution.

Back in Nov. 2015, a Chipotle in Boston was closed for days after more than 140 people were sickened with norovirus. Chipotle is already fighting to win back customers following a rash of incidents around the country.
