Classes Resume at Mass. School After Norovirus Outbreak

Half of the student body, around 200 students, was absent Thursday

Despite a nasty norovirus outbreak, classes were held Friday at the Woodville School in Wakefield, Massachusetts, but more than half the student body was absent.

Officials tell the Boston Globe that half of the student body, around 200 students, was absent Thursday.

On Wednesday, at least 125 students got sick.

The Wakefield health director said about 55 percent of the student body was not in school Friday, but that some students were kept home by parents as a precautionary measure.

The school has been disinfected every night since the outbreak. It will be disinfected again over the weekend.

Officials do not believe the outbreak originated from any food or water in the school.
