The Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence is holding a remembrance for the 20 children and six educators killed nearly two years ago in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut.

WJAR-TV reports the "Voice for Victims" event is scheduled for Thursday evening at the First Unitarian Church in Providence. Organizers say it will remember those killed at Sandy Hook as well as other victims of gun violence.

The group says the speaking program will feature Providence Mayor-Elect Jorge Elorza, Central Falls Mayor James Diossa, Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements, religious leaders and gun violence survivors.

Sunday is the second anniversary of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
