Cold Front Will Trigger Showers, Thunderstorms

An approaching cold front will trigger showers and thunderstorms across New England on Tuesday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for part of southern New Hampshire, and flooding is also possible in some areas.

Most of these storms should remain below severe limits, but a few of them could be strong to severe.

Gusty winds, hail and brief downpours are the main concerns.

Breaks of sunshine could add additional instability through the evening hours. One positive note is that the weak surface pattern and low-level shear should diminish any tornado threat.

The best chance for strong storms will be in the areas shaded in dark blue: eastern Vermont, New Hampshire, most of Massachusetts, most of Connecticut, and all of Rhode Island.

The bulk of any activity that develops should start to diminish by the evening hours.

Dense patchy fog could develop late Tuesday night as winds slacken over the wet ground.
