Condo Fire Displaces 1, Causes $50K in Damage

Fire officials say a blaze that broke out at a condominium complex in Springfield's Forest Park Heights section in Massachusetts displaced one person and caused $50,000 in damage.

The Springfield Republican reports fire crews arrived to the scene on Longhill Street around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A large crowd gathered to watch firefighters extinguish the blaze, which Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger says affected four different condos.

The fire originated on the building's fourth floor and eventually burned through the roof. Leger says it appears that the fire's cause was electrical.

One resident reportedly lost his home in the incident.
