Conn. Gov. Opening Emergency Shelter During Storm

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is opening the state Emergency Operations Center to prepare for the winter storm headed into southern New England.

Malloy ordered the center to be activated at 4 p.m. Monday. The governor also has scheduled a news briefing at the William A. O'Neill State Armory at 10 a.m. Monday to provide an update on what state preparations.

The Emergency Operations Center will remain open throughout the storm.

The National Weather Service is warning of a two-day snowfall of 20 to 30 inches and winds gusting more than 30 mph to as much as 75 mph. The state is under a blizzard warning from 1 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday.
