Connecticut Closing State Offices Early Due to Snowstorm

All nonessential state employees will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday

Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy announced Tuesday that he will close state office buildings early on Wednesday due to the anticipated snowstorm.

All nonessential state employees will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

"The more we can get cars off the road before this storm's real impact is felt, the better our chances are for dealing with whatever Mother Nature throws our way," Malloy said.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation also canceled all planned roadwork beginning Tuesday at 3 p.m. to ease congestion and accomodate drivers who are leaving early for the holidays to avoid the storm.

Malloy said he will partially activate the state's Emergency Operations Center at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning to monitor storm conditions across the state.
