Cop Steps Down Amid Reports of Golfing on the Job

Bruce Moreau was spotted by the Hummel Report in 2014 doing personal activities while listed as working

A Pawtucket, Rhode Island, police major has stepped down after it was reported he was golfing or at home when he was scheduled to work.

Public Safety Director Antonio Pires tells The Hummel Report that Bruce Moreau retired on Monday.

Moreau was spotted by the Hummel Report in 2014 doing personal activities while listed as working. Moreau denied it at the time, saying he has a work schedule that allows him to sometimes leave early and come in late.

Moreau had spent 30 years as a police officer.

Pires says Moreau "realized the time had come for him to leave." Pires declined further comment, citing the officers' bill of rights.

State police in February decided not to file criminal charges and turned the case over to Pawtucket for an internal investigation.
