Cops: Man Attempted Shoplifting in Front of Officers

Police say he tucked energy drinks and candy bard and attempted to walk out of the store when officers who were watching apprehended him

Vermont State Police say a man acknowledged it was "insane" when he attempted to shoplift $12 worth of junk food right in front of officers.

Skyler Masse, 28, of Saint Albans, was arrested early Friday morning around 12:30 at the Maplefield's Service Station.

Police say he tucked energy drinks and candy bars and attempted to walk out of the store when officers who were watching apprehended him.

Masse admitted that it wasn't smart to try the move in front of officers. In addiiton to the attempted theft, officers found Masse had an existing arrest warrant for probation violation.

He was taken into custody folowing the incident.
