Cops: Man Breaks Into Barn, Tries to Flee on Horse

Jeremy Tappan of Hollis was arrested Thursday on charges of theft, criminal mischief and criminal trespass

Police say a New Hampshire man is accused of breaking into a barn and trying to escape on a horse.

Jeremy Tappan of Hollis was arrested Thursday on charges of theft, criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

Police received a complaint from owners of a horse farm in Hollis on Tuesday night saying a man entered a barn on their property and tried to unsuccessfully mount and ride one of their horses.

The owners told police he took a drink from a refrigerator in the barn and dumped out the horse's vitamins.

Video surveillance captured the incident, which police say led them to arrest the 26-year-old Tappan. A phone message mailbox for a Jeremy Tappan was full; it wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Tappan was released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 19.
