A Lewiston, Maine, man who police say asked them to shoot him following a chase has pleaded not guilty.
The Sun Journal reports Troy Berry pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of domestic violence terrorizing, failure to stop for police and other offenses.
Authorities say Berry tried to confront a woman he had dated at a Lisbon Street building on Friday. The victim says he threatened suicide.
Police say they found him in front of the building after a chase through the woods and he allegedly told police repeatedly to shoot him.
Prosecutors argued for a high bail, saying Berry could kill the woman and possibly himself. But his lawyer says the charges against Berry were misdemeanors.
A judge set bail at $500 with a supervision contract.
