A Newmarket, New Hampshire, woman accused of holding her child under water in a tub has pleaded not guilty, according to seacoastonline.com.
Police responded to the home of Candice Griffith, 31, on Sept. 28, for a report of a disturbance, according to an affidavit. The responding officers said her children appeared to be incredibly frightened and told police they were going to be hit.
The children were then taken into protective custody.
When police interviewed the children's father, he said Griffith threw one of the children, who was fully-clothed at the time, into the tub and held the child underwater.
She was taken into custody and was ultimately released on personal recognizance. She was ordered to not have contact with any of her children, who are staying with a friend or relative.
