The Corbin Bridge in Newport, New Hampshire is damaged after a vehicle struck the side of the bridge on Saturday afternoon and fled, causing extensive damage to the facade of the bridge.
The Newport Police Department report that at 1:45 p.m. the Newport Emergency Communications Center received several calls regarding the damage.
Despite the extensive damage, the bridge is still structurally sound.
The car that struck the bridge was traveling eastbound and will have extensive damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.
The Newport Police Department ask that if anyone witnessed the accident or has information to come forward. Information can be reported anonymously by contacting the Connecticut Valley Crime Stoppers or contacting the police at (603) 863-3232.
