Hartford Resident Charged With Arson After Fire in His Apartment

Police have arrested a man accused of setting a fire in his Hartford apartment on Tuesday morning that sent another person to the hospital.

Firefighters responded to 22 Evergreen Avenue in Hartford around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and said another person was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

By Tuesday afternoon, police arrested Dennis Edwards, 50, of 22 Evergreen, apartment 7, after firefighters determined the fire was intentionally set and police launched a criminal investigation.

The damage from the blaze was contained to Edwards' apartment, police said.

No one was in the other apartment units in the building at the time of the fire. 

No motive for the fire has been released.

Police charged Edwards with first-degree arson.
