A missing 9-year-old swimmer in Mattawamkeag, Maine, was found dead around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
According to necn affiliate WCSH, the body of Karisa Babcock was found in the Mattawamkeag River, about a quarter-mile from where she and an adult male had entered the water the day before.
Wardens said that they had to swim across the Sleugundy Heater Gorge, but the water was too swift and they were separated.
The Penobscot County District Attorney's Office is investigating.
