Cross-Country Rape Suspect Held Without Bail For 120 Days

Gregory Lewis of Southbridge, Mass. faces 17 charges

Cross-country rape suspect Gregory Lewis has been ordered to be held without bail for 120 days.

Lewis, of Southbridge, Massachusetts, faces 17 charges and was found to pose a "danger to the victims and the public generally, and that there are no conditions of release that will reasonably assure the safety of the victims and the public."

The order was made Wednesday afternoon by Judge Janet Kenton-Walker.

Authorities say Gregory Lewis cut off his court-ordered electronic monitoring device and fled Massachusetts after being charged in the rape of a 13-year-old girl. He was captured in New York last month after what police called a cross-country crime spree.

Lewis will be back in Superior Court on Dec. 15.
