Cyclist Dies After Being Thrown From Bike

A cyclist was killed riding down a steep hill Friday in Rupert, Vermont.

Police say 51-year-old Michael Munson of Peru, Vermont, was riding down a steep hill in the area of Derby Hill Road when he lost control on a curve.

Munson was thrown from the bike and hit his head on the ground.

According to police, Munson injured the back of his head, his face and his left side.

Munson's helmet came off during the crash.

Police say a tire of the bicycle was blown, but they do not know if it happened before or after the crash.

An autopsy will be performed on Munson in Burlington.
