DA: 26-Year-Old Man Drowns While Swimming at Plymouth Beach

A man reported missing while swimming at Plymouth Beach in Massachusetts has drowned.

A spokeswoman for Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says police received a 911 call just after 2 a.m. Tuesday from a man who said that he and a friend had been swimming and he was unable to locate his companion in the water.

Police and fire personnel responded and at about 3:20 a.m. found 26-year-old Michael Gallivan, of Bourne, unresponsive and not breathing in about eight feet of water. Gallivan was taken to Jordan Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced dead.

Foul play is not suspected.
