An 8-year-old boy has been identified and a potential cause has been deemed after the boy's body was recovered from a shed fire behind a home in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

The victim, Savvas Yianasmidis, was inside the shed playing on his laptop with two friends from West Hyannis Elementary School.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe and State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan say of the boys alerted the victim's mother that there was a fire in the shed and she immediately went out to the back yard, finding that the shed was already fully engulfed.

The investigation is on-going, but investigators say there were indications that gasoline for a lawnmower was stored in the shed and that at least one of the children was playing with a lighter.

The fire, which authorities are calling a tragic accident, broke out on Hinckley Street around 5:30 p.m. Monday night.

Neighbors reported hearing an explosion from the scene.

Emergency crews did what they could to fight the fire, but later discovered the boy's remains.
