A former Massachusetts funeral director has been indicted on charges of keeping decomposed human remains in a storage facility, prosecutors said Wednesday.

A Suffolk County grand jury returned the 278-count indictment against 56-year-old Joseph O'Donnell of Mattapan.

Authorities say 11 of the 12 human remains discovered the storage facility have been identified. The unidentified remains are those of an adult female, and investigators continue to seek her identity.

O'Donnell is the former funeral director at O'Donnell and Mulry Funeral Home in Boston's Dochester neighborhood.
