DA: Man Tried to Burn Down Home With Wife, Kids Inside

Prosecutors say a Massachusetts man threw gasoline on the back of a home and set it on fire in an attempt to kill his estranged wife and children as they slept inside.

The Enterprise reports that 50-year-old Yvetteau Devilme was arraigned Tuesday on seven counts of attempted murder, arson of a dwelling and other charges in connection with the fire in Brockton on Sunday morning. He was held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday.

Prosecutors say Devilme was captured on surveillance video holding a gasoline container that was left under the porch.

Devilme's estranged wife had woken up to the smell of gasoline and smoke and she got everyone out of the home. No injuries were reported.

A family member says Devilme has an alcohol problem.
