Day Care Manager Pleads Not Guilty to Child Endangerment

A New Hampshire woman has pleaded not guilty to charges of child endangerment and simple assault after state officials closed the day care center she operated.

Ann Mitchell of New Hampton was arrested Oct. 5. The Citizen reports police began investigating her in April after learning the Bureau of Licensing and Certification Board was revoking her day care license.

Parents of children being cared for at Annie's Place - Children's Learning Center were notified by the state that the reason for the closure included the mechanical restraint of children to control their behavior, and "rough handling" of children.

Police accused the 53-year-old Mitchell of endangering children by covering them completely with a fitted sheet and or using tightly tucked blankets to restrict them to the point they couldn't move.
