A Pittsfield man has been sentenced to eight years to 12 years in prison for his role in the rape of a University of Massachusetts freshman in her Amherst dorm room.
Adam Liccardi was convicted last month on two counts of aggravated rape and one count of rape. He was acquitted on another count of aggravated rape.
A judge in Hampshire Superior Court also sentenced the 21-year-old to five years of probation after the prison term is completed.
Two other men have been convicted in connection with the 2012 incident and a fourth is awaiting trial. None of the defendants were UMass students.
The woman, who drank alcohol and smoked marijuana with the defendants, told police she didn't consent to sex.
Liccardi's lawyer, Alfred Chamberland, says his client will appeal the verdict.
