Man Charged With Killing Delivery Driver, Raping Store Clerk Gets New Lawyer

A New Hampshire man charged with killing a food delivery driver and raping a convenience store clerk in Massachusetts has a new lawyer.

The Salem News reports that Brian Brito, of Manchester, has been appointed a veteran defense attorney after his public defender reported a possible conflict of interest in an unrelated drive-by shooting.

Authorities say the 22-year-old Brito shot and killed a pizza delivery driver in Lynn on March 27, then drove to North Andover where he sexually assaulted the clerk and robbed the store.

Brito was held without bail after pleading not guilty in those cases. His lawyers questioned witness identification.

He was linked to the earlier drive-by in Lawrence in which two women were injured and is awaiting arraignment.

Specifics of the conflict haven't been disclosed.
