Doctors Testing for Enterovirus in Mass.

Several kids have been admitted to the Springfield Baystate Medical Center for respiratory illness that could be Enterovirus

There are concerns that the Enterovirus, which just had a case confirmed in a child in Connecticut, is making way to Massachusetts.

The concern is out of Springfield Baystate Medical Center, where several kids have been admitted to the hospital for respiratory illness that could be Enterovirus.

As of Thursday, there have been no confirmed cases of the virus at the hospital, but samples are being sent to the CDC for analysis.

The respiratory illness has been afflicting children mostly in the Midwest, but Wednesday.

Authorities say 16 states now have confirmed cases of the uncommon virus, which can cause mild to severe illness with the worst cases needing life support for breathing problems.

Doctors say most cases have symptoms like those of the common cold.
