A dog that was locked inside a hot car in Colchester, Vermont, has died ofhyperthermia, according to police. 

Police responded to the car on College Parkway Monday around 3 p.m., according to necn affiliate NBC 5

Officers broke into the car and took the dog to a vet, where it was pronounced dead. It's not clear how long the dog was in the car.
