Driver, Dog Die in Fiery Car Crash

Authorities have identified the 29-year-old driver killed after a car struck a tree and burst into flames in western New Hampshire.

The Eagle Times reports Baylee Allard, of Newbury, was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck early Friday morning on John Stark Highway in Newport. She was traveling east when the vehicle crossed the westbound lane and crashed into a tree and caught fire.

The driver and a dog were pronounced dead at the scene. A second dog - a Scottish terrier - survived the crash and was released to the family.

Police Chief Jim Burroughs says that road marks indicated she drifted off the road and then over-corrected.
