Driver Identified in Fatal Fiery Crash

Police said Friday that 21-year-old William Ainsworth of Concord was identified through dental records

Police have identified the driver in a fiery crash in the town of Canterbury, New Hampshire.

Police said Friday that 21-year-old William Ainsworth of Concord was identified through dental records.

They are still investigating Monday night's crash. Residents who heard it went to the scene and tried to pull him out of the car. The vehicle then caught fire, making rescue attempts impossible.

Local fire departments responded and found the car engulfed in flames. Ainsworth was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger suffered minor injuries.

Police said speed likely was a factor in the crash. They said Ainsworth lost control of the vehicle, which went off the road and bounced off a tree. The car then went down an embankment and over stone wall, where it caught fire.
