Drought Designation Approved for 8 New Hampshire Counties

The designation will help farmers in eight of the state's 10 counties

Most New Hampshire counties have been issued a drought designation by the federal government.

The designation will help farmers in eight of the state's 10 counties.

In its weekly map of the Northeast region on Thursday, the U.S. Drought Monitor expanded the area now considered to be in extreme drought to include a portion of southern New Hampshire.

Gov. Maggie Hassan first requested the drought disaster designation on Aug. 5.
