Drunk Driver Arrested Following Car Chase

Suspect was traveling with a loaded shotgun

A Springfield, Maine, woman is facing a slew of charges, after leading state police on a drunken chase along Route 6 for several miles, according to police officials.

Police were called to Mill Hill Rd. after 57-year-old Cynthia Gervais had her boyfriend held up at gunpoint. After police arrived at the residence, Gervais locked herself in her car with a loaded shotgun and sped off.

Gervais led police on a lengthy pursuit before she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree.

Officers arrested Gervais at gunpoint. She was taken to the Penobscot County Jail. There were no shots fired during the incident.

Gervais has been charged with operating under the influence, eluding a police officer, driving to endanger, domestic violence criminal threatening, terrorizing and criminal speeding.
