Dry Weather Makes Return to New England

The rain and snow of yesterday is gone and sunshine has returned for New England - though the intriguing part of this is our weather improves not because we're bursting into spring air, but rather because we've transitioned so deeply into cool and dry Canadian air that clouds and showers have been forced south.

This cool air produced areas of thick frost and black ice for much of Central and Northern New England this morning, which may be repeated to a lesser extent tonight and tomorrow night as temperatures dip below freezing again, just with a bit less moisture in the air.

Daytime highs each day into the upcoming weekend will reach around 60 through the interior, 50s at the coast with local sea breezes, and in the North Country.

The reality of this weather setup is that it's finite - it can only last as long as the cool and dry Canadian air can hold on, and when spring warmth eventually starts migrating northward, we'll have to get through a period with lots of clouds and occasional showers.

Right now, it appears the unsettled transition to more classic spring air will be spread over the course of next week, with our exclusive 10-day forecast showing a week of very limited sun, some raindrops, and cool temperatures.
