A Massachusetts police officer is recovering after authorities say he was rear ended in a drunk driving crash.

Twenty-four-year-old Ryan Macaluso of Abington is now facing charges of OUI and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

The East Bridgewater police officer was stopped at a red light on the northbound side of Route 18 at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Police say he was hit from behind by a Volkswagen driven by Macaluso.

That officer was hurt and taken to the hospital, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Macaluso is free on bail. He's due in court on Monday, and this is the second time he's facing an OUI.
