Ex-Police Chief Gets 9 Months for Driving Drunk

John Lundborn was convicted last month of charges of operating under the influence and endangering a child.

A former Cape Cod police chief has been sentenced to nine months in prison for a second drunken driving conviction.

The Cape Cod Times reports
that former Truro chief 47-year-old John Lundborn was sentenced Monday. He was convicted last month of charges of operating under the influence and endangering a child.

He was arrested in July 2014 at a Hyannis McDonald's after police found him sitting in his vehicle with an open container of vodka. Lundborn's 3-year-old son was in the back.

Lundborn was first arrested in Oct. 2011 after crashing a police cruiser into a tree. He resigned several months later.

In a letter to the court asking for leniency, he described himself as "a very hurt, shameful and desperate father."
