Ex-Teacher Sentenced for Child Porn Possession

A former Vermont teacher has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after being convicted of possession of child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 51-year-old Jose Bruzual, a former teacher at St. Johnsbury Academy, also will be on supervised release for five years after he is freed from prison.

Bruzual was accused of obtaining and distributing child pornography over the Internet using peer-to-peer file sharing programs. The Caledonian Record reports (http://bit.ly/17zkRlz ) that law enforcement officials say they found more than 1,000 still images and hundreds of videos of child pornography on his computers. Prosecutors say Bruzual altered some of the images to feature the faces of young local girls.

Bruzual pleaded not guilty. He was sentenced on Monday.
