Explosive Device Found in Calif. Similar to Devices Used in Boston Marathon Bombings

NBC News has learned the San Bernardino, California, suspects left behind a remote control pipe bomb similar to what the Tsarnaev brothers used during the Boston Marathon bombings.

The Tsarnaev brothers used a remote control to trigger the pressure cooker backpack bombs, filled with shrapnel, that killed three people along the marathon route and injured hundreds of others.

As for the attacks in California, NBC News has learned those suspects, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, allegedly left behind a remote control pipe bomb similar to what the Tsarnaev brothers used.

The California suspects' bomb, according to officials, was three pipe bombs tied together with a pipe bomb detonator.

Inside the couple's shot-up SUV officials said was the remote controller made from a model car.
