FAA Investigating After Seaplane Crash on Lake Monomonac in NH

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after an experimental amphibious aircraft crash landed on Lake Monomonac in Rindge, New Hampshire, and flipped over.

Authorities say the 57-year-old New Hampshire man who owned the seaplane and his 22-year-old passenger suffered only minor injuries when the aircraft crashed around 8:32 p.m. Tuesday.

The victims were rescued by a private boat and were not hospitalized. Southwestern New Hampshire Fire Mutual Aid was dispatched to assist at the scene.

Officials say roughly 40 gallons of fuel was dumped into the lake when the plane flipped. Booms were placed around the Siai-Marchetti SM 1019 to contain the spill. The aircraft will be removed from the water on Wednesday.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has been notified of the incident.
